Mr. Rodriguez

Mr. David Rodriguez, former principal of Lydia Patterson Institute, dedicated 11 years of leadership to our school community throughout the 1990s and into 2001. A decorated athlete, Air Force veteran, and respected educator, he guided LPI with vision and faith, leaving an enduring impact on students, faculty, and families.

Mr. Rodriguez

Before his years in education, Mr. Rodriguez was a basketball standout at Lanier High School in San Antonio, TX, under legendary Coach Nemo Herrera, leading the Voks to two state championships in 1943 and 1945. He later served his country in the United States Air Force, and upon returning, continued his athletic career at Tyler Junior College—winning a national championship in 1949—and at the University of Houston, where he earned All-League honors. His athletic achievements were formally recognized when he was inducted into the SAISD Athletic Hall of Fame in 2022.

Mr. Rodriguez

Following his playing career, Mr. Rodriguez devoted 39 years to education as a coach, teacher, and administrator in the El Paso School District, and as principal of LPI, where his leadership shaped the lives of countless young people.
